Doors open at 5:30, program begins at 6:00pm. This event is FREE to attend and open to all community members, but with limited capacity. Reserve your FREE ticket via Eventbrite today!

If you would like to participate by reading one poem (an original poem is preferred but not required) please send your poem to kcpridelionrockevent@gmail.com by October 22nd before 5:00pm. All participants will be notified by the first week of November!

Please include the following information with your submission: Name, Pronouns if you’d like to share them, Preferred email address, and Bio: because this event is about making community, we will not read bios but ask that each reader tell us one (in one-two sentences) thing about themselves: something they love, something they are curious about, a skill they have, etc. At the event, we will read these to introduce each reader in place of traditional bios before each reader.

Vagina Monologues Auditions

Vagina Monologues Auditions

Kittitas County Pride announces auditions for The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler. Directed by Gayla Blaisdell. Produced by Rice Majors.

Auditions will be on Saturday, July 27, 1-4pm, at the Kittitas Valley Unitarian Universalist Congregation (400 N Anderson St., Ellensburg).

If you are interested in auditioning, please:

Additional Information:

  • There are roles for 3-8 cast members.  No roles are pre-cast.  All roles are open to people with life experience to draw upon to tell the stories in the play. Due to the adult nature of some of the stories, you must be 18 years or older to audition.

  • We will ask about your comfort level(s) for the topics in the show as a part of your audition.

  • Rehearsals will be in Ellensburg.  Given that large sections of The Vagina Monologues can be rehearsed independently, a full rehearsal calendar will be developed to work with the conflict schedules of the cast.  That said, you will need to have evening availability the week of September 9-13.

  • Performances will be at venues in Ellensburg and in upper Kittitas County (e.g. Roslyn or Suncadia) on the evenings of September 14, September 21, and October 5.  All cast members will be expected to help with set-up and take-down at each performance.

The Vagina Monologues is a theatre piece that explores, through a series of first-person stories, people’s relationships with their vaginas.  It was originally written in 1996 and has been revised multiple times by the playwright (and includes material around transmen).  The subject matter is quite varied, potent, and has the potential to be quite emotional for an audience to experience.  Our version will be produced quite simply, with the cast telling the stories while seated on barstools.

Our goals in producing The Vagina Monologues are to reduce the stigma around saying the word “vagina,” to stimulate and encourage conversations around health and sexuality more generally, and to celebrate a wide range of emotions and experiences that people have had with their own vaginas.
